Mental health is a pertinent issue in the United States of America, and it has become even more important in the last two years, especially for children, because of the Covid19 pandemic. There are shocking statistics that have caused much mental suffering and pain for kids all over the world, statistics such as the fact that some 214,000 children lost their parents because of the pandemic. For other people like caregivers or parents, the pandemic cost them their jobs. Before the pandemic, there were around 11 million children in the world that suffered from hunger. The number has now increased to 17 million. The world's children have gone through way too much in the last two years, and mental support has become critical at this point.
It’s Becoming Worse every day
Since 2021, most of the world has gone back to living their normal lives. However, research proves that many students still face mental health crises, and it is even worse for children with disabilities; most parents of children with disabilities, such as challenges with physical health, development, and learning, said that their kids suffer from anxiety. Depression rates have gone high as well in the past year. According to research, since 2021, 15% of teens in the world have faced depression in a major way, and most of them haven't even gotten help for it.
Stop Catcalling Trans And Gay People
It has been found through research that a major amount of young people from the LGBTQ+ have thought of committing suicide in the last year. Among these children with suicidal thoughts, most are black, transgenders, or nonbinary. To get rid of this issue, a law has been passed in Florida, which permits them to sue school districts if the school has provided their child with inappropriate or incorrect instructions on sexuality or gender. It seems as though anti-gay law is finding its way across the United States. The government of Texas has informed teachers at school to let the parents of transgenders know if there is any kind of child abuse.
How Can We Help?
The best way to help students worldwide is by teaching kids how to build emotional and social skills and protect themselves. Another way to provide aid to these kids is by emailing mental health organizations such as nea.org/ mental health to ask for funds and mental support for community schools.
Doing so can give the students and parents some much-needed organizational support to tackle the mental health problem head on.
