Perhaps you’ve been wanting to get back in shape or be fit this year – you don’t have to head to the gym and shell out for a membership fee just to reach your goal. You can work out from the comfort of your home, a fact which you may have read from a lot of fitness websites. Although some may say that you won’t achieve the desired result in the littlest of time when you just stay at home, there is one living proof that this is not the case: Lady Gaga.
You read that right: the vocal powerhouse’s workout moves can be actually done at home and her killer body will tell you just how effective her practices are. Harley Pasternak, Lady Gaga’s fitness trainer, revealed that her client does strength training for 35 minutes at least five times per week and as for cardio, the “Pokerface” singer gets it from her lively performances. As for you, the chores you do can relatively pass off as cardio.
Moves You Can Do at Home
As you know by now from all the websites you’ve read promoting at-home workouts, they require a few to no equipment, although you certainly can improvise with the things found in the house. So for the “A Star Is Born” actress’ abs, which can make anyone turn green with envy, the expert said she instructs Lady Gaga to do reverse crunches, Russian twists, bicycle crunches, and dumbbell side bends, but you can also use heavy books or a jug in lieu of the dumbbells.
These things look easy but they’re not a walk in the park. But there’s a reason Lady Gaga’s physique remains laudable, and that’s because she brings her A game whenever she works out. For bicycle crunches, she does six sets of 20. As for her favorite? Pasternak said it is the dumbbell side bend because it addresses love handles.
For Lady Gaga’s back and arms, she does skater lunges and overhead triceps extensions, respectively. The songstress’ shoulders, meanwhile, is toned with lateral raises. Pasternak revealed that their goal is to tone the multi-hyphenate singer’s entire body. So you see, she wasn’t actually born with the amazing physique that she has, but she trains so hard even with these simple routines.
Yoga, TRX Training, VersaClimber
These are not the only moves Lady Gaga does in order to be fit despite already her being active because of the left and right shows. She incorporates other activities, perhaps to have variation because you’ll easily get tired of something if you constantly do it for a long time. So the key here is to never stick with a routine if it bores you already, or else, you’ll do them half-heartedly.
Lady Gaga reportedly loves doing Bikram yoga, as per her instructor, Tricia Donegan. This type of yoga is different from the traditional one in the sense that it is usually more intense. It is done in a heated room/area and also has 26 set poses.
Two years ago, she was pictured doing TRX resistance training, which originally came from workouts of Navy SEALS. This was reportedly what she did to prepare for her Super Bowl Halftime performance – speaking of which, the Grammy award winner also trained with a VersaClimber for that event.
Workout Plus a Well-Balanced Diet
But all these workouts need a loving partner in order to work – eating properly. This doesn’t mean that you should starve yourself because that will only make you overeat when you can’t take the hunger anymore. As for Lady Gaga, her personal chef Bo O’Connor said that a typical meal of the singer would consist of quinoa, veggies, and shrimp. If you’ll notice, these are very nutritious yet filling food.
The bottom line is, if Lady Gaga, who is active and is a busy bee, can fit into her hectic schedule the above-mentioned activities just to keep her body in shape, then there’s no reason to mope around asking why you’ve been getting sick or to practice wishful thinking of getting a healthy body when you remain a couch potato.
What’s more, being active is not just to give you a killer physique, it’s also to help you maintain a healthy body that can fight off diseases. Just as the singer, you also need to partner the workouts with a balanced diet.
