China and the United States have always been archrivals. For decades, Washington and Beijing have been fighting to exceed each other. The bilateral relationship between the two counterparts has seen numerous ebbs and flows in areas such as economy or trade. However, the reasons for this skirmish are multifarious. Perhaps the most obvious among them is the fact that both countries are looking to outclass one another and become the leading power in the world.

History Has Rarely Seen China & The U.S On The Same Page
While the fight to become the global power continues, the nature of the skirmishes also changes. With time, China and the U.S have worked on different motives to supersede each other. Recently, the motive has changed drastically: China and the U.S are no more fighting the wars of trade and economy anymore. Instead, the motive has shifted to ideas. In other words, Beijing and Washington are fighting the war of ideas in the 21st century.
China, as the leading competitor of the U.S, has always been ditching the United States in every possible facet. From American institutions to international norms, Chinese diplomacy has been targetting the U.S from every aspect. But the Chinese approaches are changing under the leadership of Xi Jinping. Under Xi’s leadership, China has not openly revealed its initiatives to ‘replace’ the power of the United States.

Although the government of Xi works closely to bring a new world order, most of the initiatives in China are hidden from mainstream media; thus, very little is known about their next steps. While that is equally alarming for the United States, some initiatives of the Chinese government are pretty apparent.
The Chinese Global Security Initiatives (GSI)
The formation of Global Security Initiatives is one of China’s obvious steps to bring a new world order. According to Xi, the GSI will bring peace and harmony among the leading countries of the world and will make the planet earth a better place to live. While this sounds like a pretty wholesome strategy, the hidden objectives of the initiative are alarming for the U.S.

The Chinese president has repeatedly reiterated that all countries need to work based on dialogues and mutual understanding. Xi has also emphasized that there is no more a military solution to global affairs. Instead, all countries should work in sync and should respect the differences. This has been pretty much the sole objective of the GSI.
Nevertheless, the United States does not necessarily agree with the ‘obvious objective’ of the Chinese initiative. The Biden administration has called it an “Autocrat Manifesto.” In other words, China is looking to take over the world with its diplomacies that seemingly favor a new world order.
As the war of ideas continues between the U.S and China, the Biden Administration takes every step taken by the Chinese government. The U.S is likely to think twice before signing any agreement with its Chinese counterpart.
